Home > Court Info > Court Fees and Costs ANY petition or complaint filed (the paperwork that starts or opens a case) requires payment of a filing fee. The only exception is a Petition for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order: there is no cost.
You must pay the exact amount (The Court is unable to make change) of the filing fee or other costs listed below either in cash or by money order. Below are the filing fee costs:
$132 all civil cases and name change petitions
$137 domestic relation cases
$117 probate cases
$117 adoption cases
$117 Magistrate court civil appeals
$ 35 Magistrate court criminal appeals
$ 20 Municipal court appeals

If you are unable to afford the filing fee, you may file FREE PROCESS papers. This requires you to list your income and expenses. If a judge finds you qualify for Free Process, the judge may not require you to pay a filing fee. Free Process paperwork is available in the clerk’s office.
Photocopies made by the clerk’s office cost 35 cents per page.
Photocopies made from microfilm cost 50 cents per page.
Computer-generated copies cost $1.00 per page.
Certified copies of a court document cost $1.50 per document.
Duplication of a cassette tape or a CD is $4.00 per tape/CD.
Fax fee: $2.50 per page in state/$5.00 per page out-of-state.
Notarizing court case documents by a court clerk is free. Notarizing a document that is not a court case document costs $1.50.
